LA TIENDITA
http://www.girlsclub.org/

The Lower Eastside Girls Club is helping young girls develop entrepreneurial skills and serving up sweet treats in the process. Sweet Things Bake Shop produces baked goods just in time for the holidays—while La Tiendita (The Little Store) sells items from around the world. All purchases support this program, which gives inner-city girls the tools necessary to become leaders. What could be sweeter?

DESSERT TRUCK
8th and University
 |
This isn’t your Starbucks kind of dessert-on- the-go deal. Think a truck with dessert—but not just any dessert—renowned Le Cirque dessert, all for five dollars. Chocolate lovers- the “molten lava” cake is supposedly divine. |

BATTLE OF THE BARRIO: FLAVORFUL DOMINICAN FOOD
The obvious benefits to living uptown such as lower rent rates and a less hectic pace than downtown are known throughout the city. But one thing many visitors and city dwellers alike are not aware of are the amazingly inexpensive food options uptown, particularly in Washington Heights. A little Dominican Republic, the Heights offers some of the best Spanish food I have ever had, for yes---less than five dollars in many cases. Add the rice and beans and you may spend about seven---which is still less than an appetizer at most Manhattan spots. Here are two of my favorite Dominican restaurants uptown…that I believe are well worth the extra fifteen minutes on the train…

FACT OR FICTION? TOPSHOP COMING TO AMERICA?
Any European imports would naturally come to our mecca of fashion of a city first (think H&M and Uniqlo)…so mega owner Philip Green plans to open three stores in Manhattan, yet the date is still to be announced…crossing fingers….
The popular line was inspired by Kate Moss’ wardrobe and continues to be the focal shopping destination for much of the U.K. Once it touches American soil, it will be just as big.
THE GLAM LIFE: SPARKLY NUMBERS
