EATING OUT ON THANKSGIVING
If you are working on Thanksgiving, or just plain don’t feel like cooking, New York has a great variety of restaurants that will provide you the perfect turkey dinner—without the dirty dishes afterwards to worry about. Here are a few of the best:

CUBAN DONE RIGHT: CAFE CORTADITO
I have a foodie secret I am dying to tell. It’s a small mom and pops restaurant with the soul and taste of a larger uptown spread. The food packs twice the flavor, and the prices—half of that. Café Cortadito sits on an unassuming block on the Lower Eastside and produces the best Cuban cuisine I’ve had in the city. Most entrees are less than twelve bucks. No liquor license, meaning BYOB, and lots of it. There’s nothing like the sharp taste of a nice Merlot with the creaminess of fresh, garlicky black beans.
This is Cuban-style cooking taken up a notch. NY Magazine rated it three stars for a reason.
Suggested Meal: Flank Steak Sandwich with plantain fries. Side of rice and beans.
NEWBIES FOR FOODIES:

CLASSIC COATS
There’s no turning back; winter is officially upon us. The downside is obvious- mainly brutal winds, but the upside…fabulous coats that shield against that wind. Here are a few of my favorites to consider:

NEW YORK CITY MARATHON

This race draws more than 90,000 runners, as well as millions of television viewers. Watch the excitement at the finish line in Central Park.

A CLASSIC COMES TO BROADWAY
One of my favorite movies has arrived on Broadway, featuring one of the leading stars of the big screen version—which rarely happens. Come check out an amazing tale of love and loyalty set in the Bronx in the 1970s—and starring the highly talented Chaz Palminteri (aka Sunny for all the fans).
A WORLDLY PERSPECTIV: CROWN POINT FESTIVAL
Through November 17, Abrons Art Center 466 Grand Street New York, NY 10002 Lower East Side
www.crownpointfestival.org
For more than ten years, the Crown Point Festival has highlighted the works of emerging artists in film, theater, and music from around the world. The three week festival has produced such hits as Raising Victor Vargas, and provides a great arts scene to downtown life.
