The Best Hangover Remedy: Unbeatable Brunch Specials

Stuffed Banana Berry French Toast Brunch in New York City has as big of a following as the Steelers do in Pittsburgh. It’s more than just breakfast—it’s a chance to catch up with friends over a feta-cheese filled omelet, a meeting ground to cure hangovers by well…drinking more. The dining opportunities are endless, from the high-end Norma’s in Le Parker Meridian (read: you’re going to wait awhile) or random spots in the Village where you can get unlimited mimosas plus food for 20 bucks and under. Here are three of my favorite reasonably priced brunch spots out of a plethora of many.

NERO
46 Gansevoort St (212) 675-5224

Unlimited mimosas and eclectic food are offered in this trendy Meatpacking district restaurant. If you love to shop, this is the perfect area to eat before you hit the boutiques in this area. Try the Coconut and Vanilla French Toast. Even typing that made me salivate.

ARTEPASTA
81 Greenwich Avenue (212) 229-0234

Unlimited champagne or mimosas (can you tell I like to drink during brunch?) and great food in the West Village for just 13 bucks. Try the tiramisu if you have room. It won’t disappoint.

bloody mary cocktailMAROON’S
244 W 16th St. (212) 206-8640

I can’t think of anything better than a good ole soul food Sunday. Thank God Maroon’s agrees. Brunch here includes a choice of a mimosa, bloody mary, or screwdriver plus an entrée for $14. I recommend the chicken and waffles or fried whiting. Stay tuned for a new opening in Harlem very soon…

Finding A Classic: Common’s Finding Forever
The seventh album from Chicagoan emcee Common does not disappoint. Despite its brevity (50 minutes), Finding Forever leaves an impact that lasts far longer than an hour. My favorites: U Black Maybe, So Far To Go, Break My Heart, and Misunderstood—the Nina Simone sample on this one is absolutely soul-shaking.

Must Read: The Girls

I am an avid reader, and have been fortunate to read a number of what I consider instant classics. Fortunately, I stumbled upon a great find recently on my transatlantic travels, and was done with it before my plane touched down in Italy. The Girls, by Lori Lansen is a fictional novel about two conjoined twins, written from their point of view. This novel, which begins “I have never looked into my sister’s eyes,” will haunt you, will make light of your every day problems, and may very well reinvent your view of undying love.

Another Reason To Love Fall: Roberto Cavalli for H&M

RhmFall is my favorite season for fashion. There’s nothing like finding a funky jacket to complement a nice pair of jeans and fab heels. And speaking of fab, Italian designer and red carpet king Roberto Cavalli, who has dressed everyone from Alicia Keys Victoria Beckham, will be bringing affordable finds to an H&M near you this fall. New Yorkers already know, when this drops, you’ll want to be there early, or be stuck with seeing someone wearing a fabulous coat like this on the train…

And we can’t forget about the fellas…the line will include men’s fashion as well, such as:

Simply chic!

Grey Matters: As The New Black That Is

Black’s slightly subdued counterpart—grey, is making a bold appearance for Fall 2007. It’s all about tonal hues baby, as witnessed in Fall 2007 Fashion Week. Be prepared to transition into this color and play it up with hot pinks and reds.  Here are some fab grey finds to consider:

Available at Neiman Marcus in Los Angeles and Bergdorf Goodman in NYC

British actress Sienna Miller has teamed up with her sister Savannah (who was a trained designer under Matthew Williamson and Alexander McQueen) to create a new clothing line entitled Twenty8Twelve, named after Sienna’s birth date. An esteemed fashionista, Miller can be found inside the pages of any magazine for her original and fearless style. I adore Sienna’s fashion sense and am very excited to see how this line develops.
